Furnace Lake The main lake at Eridge Park is the last in a line of, originally, 5 lakes constructed in the 17th Century. The second lake in the line, Furnace pond, had become badly silted up and almost lost, as have the other lakes in the chain above. Three years ago much work was carried out de-silting Furnace pond and repairing the dam. The result has been the restoration of an exceptionally pretty four acre lake in an even more secluded position than our main fishery and with all the same benefits of the superb water quality. For the 2008/9 season, members will have access to this water at no extra cost. In order to maintain the tranquillity that our members so prize, only seven swims are being created on Furnace Pond. Access to the lake is awkward in wet conditions so for most members, except for those with 4x4 vehicles, this will be a summer fishery. Furnace Pond is located in the centre of the deer park and is a fabulous location for observing the wildlife for which the park is so noted. Furnace Pond is the ideal spot for a summer evenings fishing in wonderful surroundings, providing that is, that you can tear yourself away from the main lake.
